Barbeque Islands

Barbeque islands have added zing to outdoor entertaining

Not so long ago entertaining outdoors was not a very happy task for the host. He had to struggle with coals, lug the grill out and get a charcoal fire going. He also had to carry the dinner set and beer glasses not to mention the pork and the poultry to the outdoor kitchen. And then when the party was over everything had to be lugged back, cleaned and stored again. But that was then. Today outdoor entertaining has become easier thanks to the concept of barbeque islands.

Manufacturers have been quick to see that most people consider their backyards to be a natural extension of their living room and have responded well to this need by creating barbeque islands for outdoor parties.

These barbeque islands are essentially kitchen units that can be installed outdoors and can house a wide range of appliances like drop-in or slide-in gas grills, refrigerators, ice makers, sinks, wet bars, warmers, and ovens. They provide ample space for preparing food and storing dinnerware. It's like an outdoor kitchen fully equipped to cater to large parties.

The barbeque islands can be made as basic or as elaborate as you want. The deciding factor is your budget. These islands can be made to house everything: grills, charcoal or electric, side burners, griddles, woks, rotisseries, warmers, refrigerators, ice makers, sinks, wet bars etc. You can even add entertainment equipment like stereo, VHS, DVD players and multiple miniature video screens to rev up a great party mood.

If you go in for gas patio heaters and outdoor lighting you can entertain your guests even on chilly evenings. Your guests just sit around while you go about the task of entertaining without a hair out of place because everything is at arm's length.
