A Solid Kitchen Remodeling Investment: Kitchen Countertops |
|
|
Besides your cabinets, there are few areas in your kitchen that
get as much work and use as your kitchen countertops. As you
begin to think about kitchen remodeling, replacing and updating
your kitchen countertops should be at the top of your list.
Now, obviously; there are a number of different options
available to you in countertops for kitchen remodeling. If you
don't already have an island in your kitchen, you may want to
consider adding one in your kitchen remodeling plan. At the very
least, you'll need to think about the material you want to use
in your kitchen remodeling project.
Perhaps the least expensive countertop material on the market is
laminate. This type of material is also a good choice if you
would like to do some of your kitchen remodeling yourself. A
word of caution, however. If there are a lot of angles or curves
in your existing kitchen |

or in your kitchen remodeling plan, you
are probably better off going ahead and having a professional
install the laminate for you. Even with the cost of labor,
laminate is still a bargain.
Granite countertops are an extremely popular and attractive
option for kitchen remodeling projects. Not only is granite long
lasting but it is also more affordable than other kitchen
remodeling countertop materials. While granite is not a job for
the kitchen remodeling do-it-yourselfer the added expense of
having it professionally installed can pay off in an increased
home value.
Ceramic tile has traditionally been a number one choice for many
kitchen remodeling plans because it's available in a wide
variety of colors and is resistant to heat. Unfortunately, there
are a few downsides to ceramic tile that you should be aware of
before you rush out and begin selecting samples

for your kitchen
remodeling project. First, ceramic tile must generally be
installed by a professional contractor. It's difficult and can
be time consuming to install which means that this can really
take a toll on your kitchen remodeling budget. Second, ceramic
tile is not impervious to scratches. Finally, ceramic tile can
be detrimental to delicate china, glass and crystal.
Be sure to take in the factors of cost, durability and ease of
use when you are selecting a countertop material for your next
kitchen remodeling project and you'll be sure to find a material
that is both beautiful and functional.
