Wireless Burglar Alarm System
Wireless burglar alarm system is easy to operate
A wireless burglar alarm system uses motion sensors, windows and door contacts to keep track of activity taking place in and around the house. These sensors are not connected by wires but use radio waves to communicate with a control panel. The alarm system can be armed or disarmed by a keypad control that is kept with the house owner.
The main components of the wireless alarm system are as follow:
Control Panel: This works as the "brains" of the alarm system. It is generally located in a closet or a basement for safety and receives signals emanating from the sensors placed strategically across the house. The control panel triggers an alarm whenever it detects suspicious activity.
Keypad: It is used to arm or disarm the alarm system and is generally located near the entry door. Today keypads come with illuminated screens that provide greater visibility at night and one-touch function keys, which provide single-button operation for arming or disarming during emergencies.
Magnetic contacts: They are used to safeguard windows and doors. They consist of a switch that is installed in the window or a door jam and a magnet. The magnet is installed next to the switch. An alarm goes off whenever the distance between the switch and the magnet increases.
Contact sensors: These are passive infrared motion detectors, popularly knows as PIRs. They sense motion or body heat in areas covered by them, and trigger an alarm. PIRs are generally used when the family is away or in areas where no one is expected to be present.
Home security cameras: Many house owners now prefer to install wireless cameras connected to a video monitor to track suspicious movements. These cameras are easy to install, and provide an extra layer of security.
Monitoring: Most monitoring services have a central monitoring unit that pick up radio waves transmitted by the control panel. They use these radio waves to track security of customer homes. However, it is for an individual to decide whether he wants central monitoring too as part of the wireless alarm system.
Remote Keys: They are very useful in managing your security needs. These remote keys can be operated from a distance to turn on the lights on or to switch them off. They can also be used to arm or disarm sensors as per the needs of a family.
